Hello, and Welcome to “No Children by Choice” ~ Our goal is to celebrate the unconventional life choice of remaining child-free and to explore the resulting freedoms, difficulties, joys and challenges of that choice. This is not a site about “us” versus “them” - this site does not engage in negativity or denegration of the “traditional” family unit - in fact, most of the people we hold dear have children, and they and their children are a big part of our life - but instead, through this site we strive to build upon the components of traditional families and then illustrate how the conscious choice to remain child-free can create a life of quality...a family of two...with no apologies...with no regrets. NCBC represents a watershed moment in our culture when many different types of family choices are becoming more commonplace. Even so, we have found in the past that resources intended for people researching quality of life issues (vacation planning, financial planning, estate planning, home planning, etc) assume that children will be involved: Child-friendly resorts, inheritance plans to provide for children, even home floor plans with 5 bedrooms and a “kid’s area” in the finished basement! After many years of meeting other couples all over the country who have made the choice to remain child-free and finding they faced the same challenges we faced, we decided it was up to us to create a comprehensive resource for a type of family that is growing in numbers...A Family of Two. And so, NoChildrenByChoice was born! We know you will find value in the quality information and variety of topics found here. Our blogs will always be honest and from the heart, and we encourage your comments...challenge us, concur with us, ignite a feedback firestorm! We also have a forum for you to create topics for open discussion among users, as well as external news feeds and weblinks to articles of interest. Our guest contributors, leading professionals in matters ranging from legal and financial to leisure and psychological will provide exciting, probative and sometimes humorous information on a variety of topics. These professionals are accustomed to working with clients like you - highly educated, lovers of life who are looking for targeted advice in travel and dining reviews, financial and estate planning, psychological and sociological ramifications of making the choice to remain child-free...including whether or not you are obligated to attend the family Thanksgiving dinner for 18 and how NOT to hurt feelings when you choose a long weekend in a private cabin at Lake Placid Lodge instead. So dive in, enjoy the site, check back often, feel free to contribute, speak up and take part. That is how we will build a strong community with a powerful voice. |
